What’s open and what’s running on the holiday
Wondering how to feed yourself without having to cook over the Cup Match holiday? Fearful that long lines of traffic might make travelling to BeachFest or Somerset Cricket Club too onerous?Worry not. The following businesses will be open over Cup Match with public transportation an option for those who’d prefer to not be in control of a bike, car or boat.n The Phoenix Centre Drug Store will be open from 12pm to 6pmn Collector’s Hill Apothecary will be open from 11am to 7pmn Paget Pharmacy will be open from 10am to 6pmn Dockyard Pharmacy will be open from 8am to 6pmn Heron Bay MarketPlace will be open from 1pm to 6pmn Somers Supermart will open from 8pm to 6pm tomorrow and 8pm to 5pm on Fridayn Chopsticks and Rosa’s Cantina will both open after 5pm on Fridayn Flannagan’s Restaurant in Hamilton, Henry VII Restaurant in Southampton, Salt Rock Grill in Somerset and Frog and Onion in Dockyard will all operate according to normal hoursn Harbourfront restaurant will open for dinner tomorrow and Fridayn Portofino restaurant: will open Friday for dinnern La Trattoria Restaurant will open at 5.30pm tomorrow and Fridayn Somerset Country Squire will open from 7.30am to 5pm tomorrow and Fridayn Swizzle Inn Bailey’s Bay and South Shore will both open on Friday, with normal hours of operation.Meanwhile, the pink and blue ferry routes will run on an adjusted schedule over Cup Match.The green route will not run at all over the holiday period. The Dockyard ferry will operate on a weekday schedule, with the first ferry leaving Hamilton at 8.30am instead of the usual 6.50am.The ferry will not stop at Watford Bridge or Cavello Bay. The Paget and Warwick ferry will follow the public holiday schedule, with the first run leaving Hamilton at 10am.There will be no ferry service to Rockaway during Cup Match.The orange route to St George’s and Dockyard will follow the usual weekday schedule.The Ministry of Transport has also announced additional weekend ferries from Hamilton to Dockyard for the month of August to accommodate cruise ship passengers.The extra routes mean that ferries will leave Hamilton and Dockyard every half-hour.A special Cup Match ferry will operate tomorrow and Friday as follows:n St George’s ferry departs at 7.45am arriving at Watford Bridge at 8.20am on both daysn Watford Bridge ferry departs at 5.20pm arriving in St George’s at 6.10pm on both days.On Thursday only, the ferry will leave Watford Bridge at 8.00pm, arriving in St George’s at 8.30pm.On Friday, the ferry will leave Watford Bridge at 8.30pm, arriving in St George’s at 9.10pm.Buses will operate on their regular Sunday schedule over Cup Match although there will be additional buses in place to cover Cup Match itself.A shuttle to Horseshoe Bay Beach will run for cruise ships and eight sightseeing tours on Thursday.Said a Ministry of Transport spokesman: “There will be additional supervisors to ensure all runs smoothly. Maintenance will have on-call staff to deal with issues of a mechanical nature.”
