Arts Council honours Island's "artistic giants"

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 19: The Bermuda Arts Council has honoured six of the Island’s “artistic giants”.The list includes percussionist Keith Caisey, dramatist Connie Dey and dancer Barbara Horton-Symonds. Theatrical producer Marjorie Stanton was also honoured as were Sal Hodgson and Anne Cherry — who together opened the Somerset School of Dance — and arts patron and former editor of The Royal Gazette, David White.“Tonight is a singularly special moment in Bermuda's artistic and cultural landscape because we pause to honour and celebrate some of the artistic ‘giants’ of our community,” Community Development Minister Glenn Blakeney said at last night’s awards ceremony. “The persons whom we honour tonight have not only contributed to Bermuda through their artistry, but each has also excelled in their own particular sphere of expertise.”
