Prize for Belco customers using e-billing

Belco customers who opt for paperless billing will be eligible for a $500 voucher in support of Earth Day.

The company’s prize draw among e-billing customers is set for May 31.

At present, Belco prints and mails out 12,400 bills each month — with slightly more than 65 per cent of its 36,000 customers using e-billing, which has been available since 2009.

Paper bills must be printed, folded by a machine, placed in sealed envelopes and taken to the post office for delivery within two to five business days.

E-bills, which reach customers on the day their meter is read, can be sent to several recipients and accessed via belco.bm.

The environmentally friendly option was highlighted in the wake of Earth Day on April 22.

Wayne Caines, the president of Belco, said the service was “more efficient, cost-effective and better for the environment”.

“I encourage customers who haven’t signed up for e-bills yet to do so and be entered into a draw to receive a $500 Belco gift certificate.”

Customers can send an e-mail to info@belco.bm to sign up.
