Teenager hurt in Collector’s Hill crash

A 19-year-old man suffered fractures and cuts to his face after his bike and a water truck were in collision yesterday.
A police spokesman said: “His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.”
The spokesman added that the teenager was conscious when he was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the water truck, a 69-year-old man, was not injured.
The spokesman said the motorcycle was “extensively damaged” in the crash.
The crash happened at the junction of Verdmont Road and St Mark’s Road in Smith’s at about 8.20am.
Collectors Hill was closed until about 11am as police investigated the crash scene.
Police have appealed for witnesses.
