Keep up the good fight, J.J.
Dear Sir,
So much for transparency. I think most of Bermuda is familiar that J.J. Soares is still trying to get the Bermuda Health Council to permanently allow his medical centre on Burnaby Street to offer coverage with standard health benefits — including FutureCare and HIP insurance.
Dr Soares has been working on this for four years, as he explains in today’s Royal Gazette (May 9, 2023). For the time being, those patients of Hamilton Medical Centre holding the above-mentioned policies are covered. However, who knows for how long this coverage will last?
I think the Bermuda public, and especially those of us with FutureCare or HIP coverage have a right to know why. There are opinions of why being bounced around, but let’s know the true reason.
I ask the Bermuda Health Council or the Minister of Health — or both — to please explain why this policy persists.
Good luck, J.J. Please don’t give up.
