A four-week summer mathematics programme will be available to public school students from July.

The programme is an extension of the Bermuda Public School System Maths Summer Programme launched three years ago and will be available to all P1 to M3 public school students.

Crenstant Williams, Department of Education maths officer, said: “Our BPSS expert maths teachers will deliver lessons on topics informed by key areas of weakness identified by the end-of-year assessments.

“There will be a focus on deeper conceptual understanding and procedural modelling.”

Diallo Rabain, the Minister of Education, added: "Our goal is for all our students within the Bermuda public school system to excel in math and the BPSS Summer Maths Programme is one of the stepping stones to achieve that goal."

The programme is described as “highly individualised” and is linked to a student's overall school performance, common assessments and checkpoints.

It will run from July 3 to 28 at Dellwood Middle School from 9am to noon and costs $60 per week.

Students must bring their Google Chromebooks for all lessons because technology is a key component of the programme.

The registration deadline is June 9. The link for registration can be found here.

You must be Registered or to post comment or to vote.
