A first-half goal by Shivon Washington propelled Rude Girls, Women’s League champions the past five seasons, to a 1-0 victory over Hemisphere Royals at Devonshire Recreation Club last night.

The result took Rude Girls to the top of the table on goal difference while condemning Royals to their first league defeat of the season. The teams are level on 19 points through eight matches with Dandy Stars, who have a bye this weekend, a distant third on 10 points.

Robin Hood face Prospect at Police Field in one of tomorrow’s two fixtures while Wolves Girls are home to PHC Zebras at BAA Field. Both matches start at 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, Dwia Blyden scored twice to lead Berkeley Under-15 to a 6-3 victory over CedarBridge Blue in the BSSF High School Finals at BAA Field last night.

Jesse Almeida, Richard Basden and twin brothers Ryan and Stefan Burgess were also on the scoresheet for Berkeley while Kanhai Woolridge, Kawada Smith and Ajani Gibbons scored for CedarBridge.

In the Over-19 final, CedarBridge downed Saltus 5-2 with Lovinz Tota and Takeyhi Walker netting two goals apiece. Jason Davis had the other goal from the penalty spot while Sylvester Obafunwa and an own goal accounted for the Saltus scoring.

Tota was named the CedarBridge MVP while Terry Sousa, a central defender, was accorded the honour for Saltus.
