Man fined and banned from roads for refusing breath test

A man who crashed his car in Sandys has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Chakote Wainwright-Basden, 26, from Warwick, admitted in Magistrates’ Court yesterday to not taking a breath test.

The court heard that Wainwight-Basden hit a wall while driving on Mangrove Bay Road on May 6.

Police attended the scene a short time later and noticed the car, which was badly damaged from the crash, on the wrong side of the road.

Wainwright-Basden refused to take a breath test despite being ordered to do so.

In addition to being banned, he was fined $1,500.
