Tropical Storm Cindy approaches Bermuda

Tropical Storm Cindy, the third named storm of the season, was 696 nautical miles south-southeast of Bermuda as of 6pm Sunday, according to the Bermuda Weather Service.

The storm was moving northwest at 14 knots with winds gusting to 50 knots.

It was forecast to be 475 nautical miles from Bermuda as of 3pm Monday.

BWS said: “A few showers arrive late Monday night or Tuesday morning as moisture from the remnants of TS Cindy is drawn into our area.”

The weather service forecast that the storm will have weakened by the time it reaches Bermuda, with winds of about 20 knots.

BWS added:“TS Cindy continues to weaken and is expected to dissipate in the next 24-36 hours.”
