Harvey siblings seal more final places at CAC Games
Bermuda’s swimming siblings Emma and Jack Harvey have progressed to the finals of their respective races at the Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador on Tuesday.
Jack Harvey was the fourth fastest in the men’s 200 metres backstroke in a time of 2mins 4.86sec. Swimming in heat one, Harvey finished third, behind Diego Camacho of Mexico and Aruba’s Patrick Groters, but his time was good enough to qualify for the final at 9.40pm.
Emma Harvey qualified fifth fastest in the women's 100 metres butterfly in 1:02.40 after finishing second to Mexico’s Maria Mata in heat three. Mata, Karen Durango, Athena Meneses and Valentina Becerra Quintanilla were quicker than the Bermudian. Harvey starts in lane two in her final at 9.48pm.
Benedict Parfit won his heat in the men’s 50m breaststroke in 29.72 but his time was not good enough for him to progress to the final as he was placed sixteenth.
Harvey won Bermuda’s first medal at the CAC Games after she finished second in the 50m backstroke on Sunday.
