Getting rid of noise when it suits you
Dear Sir,
Earlier this year, Lieutenant-Colonel David Burch, the Minister of Public Works, disbanded the National Parks Commission because they were “working outside their remit”. In other words, they were doing the job they were appointed to do, which obviously didn’t fit into his way of thinking.
I wonder now whether the decision was related to the adverse reaction of the commission to campers using Cooper’s Island — a “protected” National Park — over Cup Match last year. A good way for a government to get its own way is to get rid of those who oppose them.
As far as the noise and total disrespect for the surrounding residents at the Arboretum during National Heroes Weekend, why was it allowed to continue past the permitted time limit? And why at a park? Also the police know full well that we couldn’t complain about the noise because they had permission to make it! Therein lies the problem.
May I suggest the National Sports Centre next year. There is certainly a lot more room.
