Vehicle enthusiasts raced to Front Street this afternoon to celebrate their passions.

Dozens of cars and motorcycles, and even a few boats, were on display as part of the fifth annual Motor Fest 441, with spectators taking close looks at everything from restored vintage Mobylettes to modern electric cars.

Dylan Connor, from Paget, was impressed by the elaborate detailing and artistry of some of the vehicles.

“It’s amazing to see what people with a vision can do to something that we all just ride around on every day,” he said. “There’s clearly a lot of passion here.

“It really gives you an idea of what is possible if you have the time and the dedication.”

Billy Dunn of 2B Motor Sports said he was excited to see people come out despite the summer heat.

“It’s a really good turnout. A lot of people are out, and people are still coming. It’s looking to be a really good day,” he said.

“These events are important because we have a big motor sports community on the island.

“Cars are important, and bikes are very important. We have a long history of bikes in Bermuda. We have a rich history in cars, bikes and boats.”

Yolanda Harvey of Island Auto N Accessories said that as well as allowing enthusiasts to come together, the event gave vendors such as herself a chance to meet potential customers.

“I have had a lot of people come by, lots and lots of customers and potential customers coming through,” she said. “It’s amazing.

“I’m a small business, so events like this are great for exposure. A lot of people don’t realise that we are here, here in Bermuda.”

She said that Island Auto N Accessories had also taken part in last year’s event and it was a positive experience.

“Everyone is out here having a great time, despite the heat,” she said. “It’s a great event.”

Mitchell Waitt, who is visiting the island from New Jersey, said the event was a pleasant surprise.

“I go to car shows all the time back home and I had no idea there was going to be one here until we got here,” he said.

“Every car show is different. They all sort of reflect the people in the area, so it’s an interesting way to kind of get a glimpse of what people are interested in.

“While there may not be a lot of classic cars here compared to back home, the work people have done on some of the bikes is pretty wild. I dig it.”
