Organisers have cancelled tonight’s edition of Harbour Nights over weather concerns.

A spokeswoman for the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce said in a statement this afternoon: “The safety and wellbeing of our attendees, vendors, and staff are our top priorities, and given the current weather forecast, it is in everyone's best interest to cancel the event.

“We understand the anticipation and excitement surrounding Harbour Nights, and we share in the disappointment resulting from this cancellation. However, we must prioritise the safety and ensure a positive experience for all participants.

“The decision to cancel tonight's event was made after careful consideration. The inclement weather poses potential risks and challenges that could affect the overall quality and safety of the event.”

The spokeswoman added that the BCC apologised to those who may be inconvenienced by the cancellation.

“We remain committed to delivering an exceptional Harbour Nights experience and celebrating the vibrant culture of Bermuda, and hope to see you all next week,” she said.

The Bermuda Weather Service has warned that a trough approaching the island is expected to bring cloudy skies and showers tonight, along with gusty winds and rumbles of thunder.
