Wellington Slip Road around the perimeter of Wellington Oval in St George’s will be closed to traffic from 9am to 9pm during Cup Match on Thursday and Friday, police said.

The event will also see a heightened police presence outside the ground on both days.

The closure of the road was announced by the Ministry of Public Works, and officers will be on patrol to keep Wellington Slip Road clear of parked vehicles and accessible to emergency services as well as Cup Match crowds.

Vehicles registered to neighbourhood residents who will need access to Wellington Slip Road will be listed for police.

The TS Marine boatyard on Wellington Slip Road is also providing parking. Spectators must show proof of payment to gain access.

Boat owners whose vessels are kept at TS Marine will not be permitted access to the road once it closes at 9am on both days.
