Somersfield Academy taking applications for new scholarship
A private school has established a new scholarship programme to help give pupils the push they need to change Bermuda’s standing on the world stage.
Somersfield Academy yesterday announced the Equity and Merit Scholarship, available for pupils between levels M4 and their Diploma Programme, for the 2023/24 and 2024/25 academic years.
A school spokeswoman said that the scholarships were meant to help pupils with the potential to become “global leaders” but who also lacked the funds to attend the school.
She explained: “These scholarships are for academically excellent students who have the potential to contribute to global issues, locally.
“The scholarships will provide financial assistance to eligible and motivated students who embody the values of the school.”
Awardees can receive full or partial coverage for tuition for the school year, as well as the opportunities that come from an education at Somersfield Academy, such as extracurricular activities and leadership opportunities throughout the year.
Riki Teteina, the head of Somersfield, said: “The Equity and Merit Scholarship at Somersfield Academy is designed to recognise and support exceptional students with a strong passion for learning.
“We encourage applications from talented individuals who demonstrate exemplary academic skills, outstanding character and a desire to make a positive impact on the world.”
The deadline to apply for the Equity and Merit Scholarship for 2023/2024 is August 21, while the deadline for 2024/25 school year applications is February 9, 2024.
