The beauty of the Koran
This is the Book (the Koran), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous persons who fear Allah much abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained). — Koran 2:2
The Koran is the book of guidance given to mankind from a merciful God, Muslims believe, as Allah has promised that the Koran is the final message to mankind. The Koran has not been tampered with and is no one’s version but the direct unadulterated word of God.
The angel Gabriel delivered the word of God to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and the Prophet (pbuh) had no command to change it but to portray it just as it was sent by God, which he did.
The Koran is a wonderful and miraculous book as the following surah affirms: “It is that which, when the jinns heard it, they could not help saying, ‘We heard a marvellous Koran (recitation).’” 7:21
In the Koran the heart finds consolation from the worries and anxieties of day to day life. The Koran uplifts the spirit. I can attest that time after time, the Koran has comforted me, in my darkest hours, just as Allah has promised. The Koran, God’s word, hasn’t failed me yet.
Many times when I open the Koran, it opens to the exact surah that I need. “Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do the hearts find rest.” Koran 13:38
Indeed the Koran is the primary source of every Muslims faith. We are encouraged to read, recite and memorise the word of God. Many male Muslims who have memorised the Koran in entirely are called Hafiz; women are called Hafiza. Muslims believe the Koran to be sacred, therefore there are certain rules and practices that must be obeyed when handling the Koran to show it respect.
The Koran is powerful and will even advocate for us on the Day of Judgement. There is a Hadith in which the Prophet (pbuh) was asked, how it is possible to keep peace and order among one another. Our noble Prophet’s response was this: “Whoever utters it speaks the truth, whoever rules by it is just; whoever abides by it will receive his just reward; and whoever calls for it shall be guided to the straight path. Follow it.”
This is the power and guidance of the Holy Koran, a guide to those who believe in Allah and the last day.
“We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a message for you: will you not then understand?” Surah Al-Anbiyaa 21:10
