Young anglers were out in force early on Sunday, taking part in the Bermuda Angling Club’s annual junior tournament.

The competition to land the biggest catch of the day is open to boys and girls under the age of 17.

The competition started at 8.30am, giving anglers seven hours to get a bite before the official weigh-in at the flagpole on Front Street.

Competitors were reminded to follow Bermuda Fisheries regulations, which meant that certain species, such as sharks, parrot fish and billfish, would have to be put back in the water if hooked.

The competition was divided into several categories, including fishing from a boat inshore or offshore, fishing from dry land and for using either a rod or handline.

A prize-giving ceremony will be held at the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club on Saturday at 10am.
