Professional bodybuilder Ross Caesar secures another podium finish
Professional bodybuilder Ross Caesar continued his impressive form on the international stage at the IFBB Pro League Masters World Championships in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the weekend.
The six-times Bermuda champion captured the silver medal in the men’s over-50 classic physique to equal his best showing at this level after finishing runner-up at the Romania Pro Masters in 2019.
Brad Helm, from Colorado, took home the gold and Erik Alstrup the bronze.
The podium display was Caesar’s second in a row after he won the bronze medal in the men’s classic physique at the prestigious IFBB Pro League Masters Olympia in Cluj, Romania, the previous weekend.
“One week after competing in the Masters Olympia, I travelled to Pittsburgh to the Masters,” Caesar said.
“I knew it was going to be challenging to repeat peak conditioning a week apart.
“The competitors list was majority US competitors and I managed to secure a close second place in over-50 classic physique.”
The Barbadian-born athlete, who has resided in Bermuda for the past 25 years, also finished seventh of the 15 competitors in the men’s over-40 classic physique at the event.
“Over-40 classic proved to be more challenging because of the two-minute break between the classes,” Caesar added.
“It was not even time to recover, however I managed to place seventh.”
The 50-year-old has made significant strides since earning his IFBF professional card in 2019 after winning the men’s classic Physique A class at the Joe Weider’s Olympic Amateur South America in Medellin, Colombia.
“I am truly grateful to represent Barbados and Bermuda at such a high level,” Caesar said.
“I couldn’t have achieved these goals without my strong support system. God first always, my three amazing children Honour, Jada and Stefon, my friends and family in Barbados and Bermuda, Carmichael Bryan, Garwin Phillips, Melanie DeRosa of the Ultimate Fitness Club family and my very supportive clients.
“I truly hope that my journey has inspired more than a few people and other competitors that anything is possible at any age with patience, consistency, a strong supportive environment and people.”
Caesar made history as the first local athlete to compete at last month’s prestigious International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness Pro League Masters Olympia in Romania.
“I am extremely proud to be the first but I am sure there are many more athletes that will follow,” Caesar added.
“This is the first time they have had it in 11 years and this is the first time they had all the categories.
“Before the Olympia would be just bodybuilding but now this is a full Olympia so it was a big deal.
“The guy that won [American Alejandro Cambronero] came third in the Arnold Classic and Open Olympia. He is a top-calibre competitor so the calibre obviously is clearly a big deal.”
Englishman Kelvin Hinde secured the silver medal with Spaniard Luis Garcia Martinez and American Tom Connelly rounding off the top five competitors respectively.
