The new Bermuda Golf Association season got under way with a thrilling Team Challenge tournament at Port Royal on Saturday.

A total of 52 players divided into 13 teams took to the course under favourable weather conditions, to compete in a net team handicap stroke play competition consisting of teams of four players using the Stableford scoring system, with the score of two balls to count.

Once all scorecards were turned in, there was a three-way tie for first place with each team tallying 87 points.

However, after the retrogression tiebreaking system was utilised, the team “Better to be Golfing” consisting of Michael Kenny, Brian Lynch, Danny Shin and Nicolas Plianthos, were crowned champions.

The team of Geoffrey Piggott, Harrison Piggott, Richard Neame and Paul Towlson settled for second, with Craig Brown, Colin Brown, Shaun Green and Matthew Durrant rounding out the top three.
