Latest arraignments
A 33-year-old accused of killing another man on New Year’s Day also appeared at the Supreme Court arraignments session yesterday.
Mikado Burchall, of Smith’s, is charged with the unlawful killing of Adrian Hassell, 24, with an alternative charge of causing death by reckless and dangerous driving.
Mr Burchall is also charged with piloting a boat while impaired.
He has not entered a plea.
Puisne Judge Charles-Etta Simmons adjourned the case until November 19.
Three men accused of involvement in an assault where another man was beaten and set on fire also appeared at the arraignments session.
Justin Cameron, 24, Jahni Holder, 25, and Ayinde Eve, 25, all from Pembroke, are charged with wounding Jamar Malik with intent to do grievous bodily harm and deprivation of liberty.
The incident is alleged to have happened on September 9 in Pembroke.
The case was adjourned to the next arraignment session on December 2.
A Devonshire man appeared on a sex assault charge
The 44-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty.
Mrs Justice Simmons adjourned the case until November 19.
A 30-year-old man who admitted threatening to shoot David Burt, the Premier, did not appear in Supreme Court when his case was called.
Jared Gordon of Sound View Drive, Sandys, failed to appear before Mrs Justice Simmons and the court heard that he was at Somerset Police Station to have his bail checked.
Gordon was released on $10,000 bail earlier this week and ordered to wear an electronic ankle bracelet and to report to a police station three times a week.
Gordon appeared at the end of the arraignments session and said he had no idea he was required in court.
Simone Smith-Bean, for Gordon, said she would take responsibility for his failure to appear earlier.
The court is waiting for psychological assessments to be completed before Gordon is sentenced.
The case was adjourned until November 19.
An elderly man involved in a seven-hour stand off with police earlier this year also appeared.
James Dallas, 70, represented by Charles Richardson, was charged with four counts of throwing a corrosive substance at police officers as they tried to remove him from the former prison service headquarters on Happy Valley Road, Pembroke.
The court is awaiting a psychological report to assess whether Mr Dallas is fit to plead.
The case was adjourned until November 18.
A man accused of theft from a bank and an attempt to steal a further $74,000 also appeared at the arraignments session.
Tuan Nguyen, 34, is charged with the theft of $6,080 from Clarien Bank and an attempt to steal a further $74,907.
The incidents are alleged to have taken place between June 22 and July 2.
Mr Nguyen is also charged with an attempt to steal an unknown amount of money from HSBC on June 22.
Mr Nguyen, whose home country is unknown, did not enter a plea.
The case was adjourned until November 18.
