Festival will raise a glass to Bermuda’s national drink
The island’s national beverage will take centre stage at a celebration of food and drink next week.
The second annual Swizzle Festival, featuring a host of popular bars and restaurants, will take place at Barr’s Bay Park in Hamilton on October 8 between 1pm and 6pm.
According to the Bermuda Tourism Authority, the event will showcase talented local mixologists preparing variants of the classic Rum Swizzle, as well as other cocktails.
A number of restaurants will also take part, with vendors selling traditional Bermudian dishes.
Tashae Thompson, vice-president of experiences at the BTA, said: "The annual Swizzle Festival is not just a celebration of our beloved cocktail, but a toast to the confluence of traditions, flavours and the community.
“As Rum Swizzle is synonymous with an authentic Bermudian experience, we are excited to showcase our swizzle creators again in a festive atmosphere, bringing together our visitors and residents alike.”
Participating vendors this year include 1616 Cocktails, Mixyz Bda Bar Catering, Frog & Onion, Hog Penny, Pickled Onion, The Birdcage, Duch Pops, Brown’s Finger Licking and Sensational Delights.
Single-serve Swizzle samples will be on sale, as well as regular cocktail-sized drinks.
Admission to the festival is complimentary, but attendees must be over 18.
Tokens will be available to purchase Swizzle samples and full-sized cocktails. Patrons are encouraged to bring cash, with some vendors offering card transactions.
