Remaining matches in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier Regional Final are under threat from Tropical Storm Phillipe.

Four matches remain in the tournament, with two to be played at White Hill Field on Friday and two at the National Sports Centre’s North Field on Saturday, including the potentially explosive decider between Bermuda and Canada.

The storm is expected to descend on the island on Friday morning and tournament director Billy MacDermott has made clear that while there are no reserve days, some action could be squeezed in on Saturday with only five overs from both sides required for a match outcome.

“It seems Friday we’re going to lose to the weather,’’ MacDermott said.

“As for Saturday, we will take it as a normal day and see. We need only a minimum of five overs per team to get the game in and we’re confident that we will get that in on Saturday.

“If it happens that one game is played and the other cannot be played, there is nothing we can do about it, the weather is out of our control.

“Our goal is to try and get as much cricket in as possible. If that means the conditions improve after the cut-off time for the first game and the second game can be played, we’ll play it.”

MacDermott is pleased with how the tournament has progressed and has been particularly impressed with the performances of Bermuda and Canada.

“So far the tournament’s been good and some of the displays have been of high standard with all teams having their moments,” he said.

“We can’t deny that Bermuda and Canada are a step ahead and fighting for that spot but Cayman had their moments and so have Panama.

“I think everybody will make something out of this tournament and hopefully we have a great finale on Saturday.”
