The Government is looking to invest in new firefighting vehicles for the airport, according to a recent request for proposal.

The RFP, published this week on the Government Procurement website, called for proposals for the design, construction and delivery of four airport fire-rescue major foam vehicles.

“The project is expected to span two years, beginning in 2023,” the RFP stated.

“The successful proponent will also be responsible for providing comprehensive maintenance, support and spare parts to ensure efficient and effective vehicle operations.

“The airport fire rescue foam vehicles are intended to bolster our firefighting and rescue efforts.

“The vehicles shall be designed and equipped to meet the stringent demands of aircraft rescue and firefighting operations. They should adhere to the latest industry standards and regulations.”

The deadline for submissions is 4pm on November 20, with the anticipated execution date of March 1 next year.

The Government purchased airport fire rescue vehicles in 2009 with a stated cost of $800,000 each.
