Clyde Best Lane mural anniversary to be celebrated
The anniversary of the opening of the Clyde Best Lane mural will be celebrated with an artisan market tomorrow afternoon.
The event takes place at the mural on Somerset Road in Somerset.
A spokeswoman said: “The market will feature community artists and creatives who will have the opportunity to show and sell their works. These will range from paintings, fabrics, photographs, pottery, jewellery, books, crafts and some amazing baked goods.
“The exciting feature in this community event will be the opportunity for attendees to participate in a sip-and-paint session and to join the live work on the Bus Stop mural on Somerset Road, just in front of the former Arnold's Supermarket.
“This event celebrates the first anniversary of the opening of the mural and also brings a hands-on celebration of Art Month to the west.”
The mural featuring former professional footballer Clyde Best aims to inspire young Bermudian sportsmen and women to greatness.
A team of 20 artists united last year to paint a 142ft by 9ft wall along Clyde Best Lane.
The mural project is the brainchild of retired art teacher and Barbara Dillas, community leader and highlights the legacy of Somerset.
The Artisan Market will open at 2pm on Sunday October 22 and run until 6pm. Those interested in painting should bring their smocks and be prepared to have some fun.
