Guests are encouraged to dress up and test out their singing voices at a karaoke fundraiser next week.

The event will be hosted by Action on Alzheimer’s and Dementia in Bermuda to support its activities programme.

A spokeswoman said inspiration for the theme of the fundraiser came from this year’s Barbie film.

The event — Barbie and Ken do Karaoke — will take place on November 2 from 7.30pm to 11.30pm at Front Yard.

Liz Stewart, the AAD president, said the charity was grateful to venue owner Tom Steinhoff for his generosity.

She added: “This will be a really fun night with free bonus prizes for the first 100 entrants, as well as prizes for best dressed, and one free signature cocktail for guests in fancy dress, along with themed Ken and Barbie cocktails.

“Pitt & Company are generously providing some sponsored product for the event, which is greatly appreciated and we are excited that popular karaoke DJ Emily Ross will be our master of singing ceremonies.”

Funds raised at the event will support activities that “provide meaningful engagement for those living with dementia through music, movement, chair yoga and art”, the spokeswoman said.

She added that a limited number of advance purchase tickets are available for $20 online at ptix.bm. The cash-only entrance fee on the night is $25.

The spokeswoman said: “As this event is the night before the World Rugby Classic, AAD will also be working with team hosts to provide complimentary entrance to the players.”
