Bermudian-based Sompo International has continued its expansion in the Asia Pacific region with the news that Pei Ru Chiew has joined the company and will lead Crisis Management, Commercial P&C Insurance in APAC.

She will be based in Singapore and report to Paul O’Neill, president of Commercial Lines, Insurance, APAC.

Mr O’Neill said: “As Sompo International continues to pursue its global objectives, a top priority includes deepening our relationships in APAC.

“While we have a well-established and co-ordinated crisis management offering in the UK, Europe and North America, we are seeing growing demand for political violence and terrorism insurance cover in this region.

“Pei Ru’s extensive experience in this sector well positions her to work closely with our clients and broker partners delivering the solutions that meet their evolving needs.”

Ms Chiew was most recently with Axa XL’s Singapore team as a senior underwriter of war, terrorism and political violence.
