So thankful for response to feeding the children

Feed the Children Ministry tag day co-ordinator Dessaline Waldron, left, is grateful for the community’s response after the first such event since the pandemic (File photograph by Akil Simmons)

Dear Sir,

Please allow us once again a space in your newspaper as we thank the Bermuda community for their unwavering support for our recent tag day, on October 25, our first for three years because of the pandemic.

Special thanks once again to the following for supporting this worthy cause, as we endeavour to provide breakfasts and lunches to our schoolchildren in need. The Corporation of Hamilton for giving us permission, the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce, Butterfield Bank, business owners, managers who allowed us to operate from their premises. The MarketPlace Ltd, Harrington Hundreds, PriceRite (Warwick, Pembroke), Lindo’s Group, The Supermart, Arnold’s Group, Phoenix Stores, Warwick Pharmacy, HSBC Bank (St George’s, Hamilton, Somerset). Washington Mall, Port Royal Esso Service Station, King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

There were so many persons who tagged for us. We cannot name them all, but will mention a few: Victor Scott Primary School students, parents and teachers, Steve Wilson, Thomas Young, Summerhaven, Kiwanis Club, Roslyn Simmons and the Girl Guides of Bermuda, Bermuda Institute students grades 9 through 12. The Lions Club of Bermuda, zone chair Delman Parfitt, the Golden Elite, Fifty Plus Seniors Club members Sharon Burrows, Sandi Williams, Joanne Smith, Gareth Harvey, Marie El-Amin, members of the Bermuda Police Service and those other individuals who tagged on that day. To those who have assisted us over the past 11 years, and those who offered an hour or two of their time.

All funds raised will be able to assist the needy when called upon. The amount raised totalling $9,584.65.

To the Bermuda community, you are a shining beacon on the hill. To the Feed the Children’s Ministry Tag Day Team Community Service Federation — director Dora Baker, Suzanne James, Calvin White, community service leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, volunteers — we thank you and ask for your continued prayers and support as we take on this feeding crisis in our island.

May God bless you all.
