Bermuda is expected to welcome 189 cruise ship visits next year, according to the 2024 Cruise Ship Schedule.

While the schedule, dated November 20 and subject to change, includes fewer than the 224 visits scheduled to take place this year, the figure is higher than the number of visits now expected this year with cancellations taken into account.

A total of 36 visits have been cancelled so far this year, in large part because of weather concerns.

Regular callers are expected to make up the bulk of visits next year with five ships accounting for 100 of the 189 visits.

The Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Gem are scheduled to make 23 and 22 visits to the island respectively over the course of the year.

Meanwhile, the Liberty of the Seas and the Vision of the Seas will make 22 and 19 visits respectively.

The Celebrity Eclipse will round out the list of regular callers, making 14 visits to the island in 2024.

Occasional callers make up the remaining 89 cruise visits included on the schedule, with the Norwegian Getaway making 13 stops, the Carnival Venezia making nine visits and the MSC Meraviglia returning to the island’s shores seven times.

The MSC Meraviglia is also the largest capacity ship scheduled to visit the island next year, with as many as 5,179 passengers expected on board during the peak of the season.

The vast majority of cruise ships are scheduled to visit King’s Wharf or Heritage Wharf in Dockyard, with only a handful expected to stop in Hamilton or St George’s.

The schedule includes 15 cruise ships to Hamilton and eight to St George’s, down from 25 and 9 in the 2023 schedule, respectively.

The Insignia, the Nautica, the Star Pride and the Sirena are scheduled to visit both St George’s and Hamilton over the course of the season, while the Azamara Onward, the Seven Seas Mariner, the Scenic Eclipse, the Silver Shadow, the Braemar and the Evrima will visit Hamilton alone.

The first visit of the year is scheduled for January 9 when the Norwegian Getaway arrives at Heritage Wharf.

Seven visits are expected in January, with activity slowing in February, with only four cruise visits on the calendar and nine in March.

Cruise activity is expected to pick up in April, with 22 visits on the schedule and another 19 in May.

The cruise season peaks in the summer with 23 visits in June, 24 in July and 23 in August.

September includes another 20 scheduled calls and October includes 19 before the season winds down with 16 visits in November and three in December with the final ship, the AIDAmar, departing Heritage Wharf on December 23.
