Saltus beat Sandys to win under-13 football tournament
Saltus Grammar School picked up the Bermuda School Sports Federation under-13 six-a-side championship after a 2-1 victory over Sandys Secondary Middle School in the final.
Both teams took a while to settle their nerves in with neither team able to produce a goal in the first half, but half-time substitute Adam Cezner broke the deadlock for Saltus early in the second half.
Riley Martin equalised for Sandys with a fierce long-range free-kick before Cezner settled matters in the final stages with a well-taken goal after an assist by Connor O’Sullivan.
Cezner was also on target twice in the semi-finals as Saltus defeated Whitney Institute 4-0, with O’Sullivan and Tyler Pickering rounding off the scoring.
Tnuri Darrell-Virgil scored twice with Martin netting the other goals as Sandys beat Warwick Academy 3-0 in the other semi-final.
