Caitlin Conyers and Jay Donawa to feature in high-performance seminar
Professional cyclist Caitlin Conyers will be among athletes and administrators sharing their high-performance experiences at a Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation seminar on Thursday.
Conyers, who won a bronze medal at this year’s Central American and Caribbean Games, is one of the speakers at the event, which will be held at Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute’s TradeWinds Auditorium on Thursday night at 6pm. It is open to the public and admission is free.
Bermuda Football Association technical director Maurice Lowe, Bermuda Golf Association president Craig Brown, former triathlete Neil de Ste Croix and athlete Jay Donawa, the 2017 Bermuda Half Marathon Derby champion, will also feature in the panel discussion.
Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Owen Darrell, and Richard Way, the chief executive officer of Sport for Life will be the special guests at a forum to be moderated by Larry Marshall, a former Bermuda Half Marathon Derby winner.
In an effort to address some high-performance concerns, the government in June handed out awards to the island’s top athletes to assist them with their training and competing overseas.
Middle-distance runner Dage Minors, triathletes Erica Hawley and Tyler Smith, Liam Flannery, Jessica Lewis, Jyire Mitchell, David Maycock, Lamar Richardson, Jessica Lewis, Yushae DeSilva-Andrade, Jediah Cumbermack and Nicholas Pilgrim were all assisted by the programme.
