Lindo’s Tigers continued their surge towards a first netball championship as they head into the Christmas break with a 100 percent record.

North Village became the latest victims of the marauding Tigers when they were beaten 41-37 in a close encounter at Bernard Park on Saturday, with the Trott twin sisters, Jahkenya and Jahtuere, scoring all points on the night for the Tigers. Jahkenya top scored with 31, while captain Jahtuere chipped in with the other ten.

Apryl Jackson was MVP for the Tigers, with Demiqua Daniels named best defender and Kaylee Lema the outstanding attacker.

“Four wins out of four and I'm very pleased with my team,’’ Jahtuere Trott said.

“We won every single quarter against North Village so that was good. We just have to slow down a bit, communicate more, and play together.

“We come back on January 6, which is a whole month away but we will use this break to work on our timing and our spacing. We like to crowd the court a lot, so we should work on spreading the court so that we have more room and more space to run.

“We need to work on our pace as sometime we've been sloppy and we've to control the ball more and keep possession.

“It’s going to take a lot of hard work for us to win the league and a lot of training. Even though we have a little break we still have to put in the work, what you do in training is what ultimately comes out on the court.”

Darrika Simons top scored for Village with 23 goals, followed by best attacker Coriah Simmons on 14. Yvonna Osborne won MVP for Village and Jada Richards was the most outstanding defender for the losing side.

Richards, the Village captain, felt that they had no one but themselves to blame for the loss.

“It was a very close one and I feel we defeated ourselves,’’ she said. “It was a lot of simple mistakes that we made, interceptions that we didn't capitalise on, and just things that we know better.

“In most of our matches heads get hung, and that causes silly mistakes and simple turnovers that the other team capitalises on.

“We will use this break to go over different game plays and continue to work on fitness, which is a big thing for us.

“We also have to come up with different plays, and evaluate what works and what doesn't work.

“We definitely want to finish in the top three, but in order for that to happen we have to focus on our game and play to the quality that we know we can play at.”

Defending champions Phoenix Heat defeated Village 45-30 last week in their only match so far this season, with most of their fixtures postponed due to bad weather.
