The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation has launched its annual holiday season promotion for the island’s three economic empowerment zones.

The Eat, Shop, Play campaign continues through to January 5.

Anyone who spends $20 or more in any participating restaurant or store in the EEZs in Somerset, North East Hamilton, and St George’s is entered into a draw for a chance to win a $500, $300, or $200 gift voucher to their favourite participating restaurant or store.

Donte Hunt, acting director of micro, small and medium enterprise at the BEDC, said: “This initiative is designed to incentivise customers to shop in the zones and it also provides an opportunity for our officers to engage with the shop owners to determine how best to support them during this holiday season.

“Eat, Shop, Play is a fun way to inspire the public to visit and shop at unique restaurants and stores located a little off the beaten path and, as a bonus, the chance to win some extra cash during this holiday season.”

The store that the grand prize winner patronises will win an additional $500.

Business owner Charmaine Russell said: “C N Hairloft/Surishae Co has actively participated in Eat, Shop, Play since its inception.

“I am passionate about taking part in this initiative as it provides me with the opportunity, with the support of the BEDC, to give back to my Somerset community.

“It's a fulfilling experience to contribute to the local area and support the growth and wellbeing of the community that has given us so much.”

Ondreyah Rochester and Dennis Carter, the MSME officers in charge of Somerset and St George’s, respectively, added: “We are thrilled to be offering this incentive to shop in the EEZs again.

“This initiative invites everyone to discover unique shopping experiences, enjoy fantastic offers, and participate in our exclusive raffle with attractive prizes. It's a wonderful opportunity to support local businesses and win big!”

The BEDC said the winners would be announced on January 12.
