Golar LNG Ltd, the Bermudian-based owner of tankers that haul liquefied natural gas, has taken delivery of a newly converted ship.

The company said floating liquefied natural gas carrier Gimi has departed Singapore’s Seatrium Shipyard, and is now sailing under its own propulsion, supported by an escort tug, toward BP’s purpose-built Greater Tortue Ahmeyim hub offshore Mauritania and Senegal.

The vessel was converted from a liquefied natural gas tanker into a FLNG facility.

The voyage is expected to take about 60 days, including refuelling stops in Mauritius before rounding the Cape of Good Hope and in Namibia before its arrival in mid-January.

Upon arrival, the company said, Gimi will notify BP that it is ready to be moored and connected to the hub, which is expected to trigger the start of contractual cashflows under the 20-year lease and operate agreement on the GTA field.

Golar CEO Karl-Fredrik Staubo said: “Golar is pleased to complete conversion of the FLNG Gimi. We would like to thank Seatrium, Black and Veatch and other suppliers for another successful FLNG delivery.

“With Gimi soon on site for start-up of operations Golar will double its operating fleet of FLNGs and bring total installed liquefaction capacity up to 5.1 million tons per annum.

“We look forward to having FLNG Gimi in operation, and to continued long term cooperation with BP, Kosmos and the national oil and gas companies of Mauritania and Senegal.”

Will Homan-Russell has been elected as a new board member of Avance Gas Holding Ltd, the Bermudian-based company engaged in the transportation of liquefied petroleum gas.

The company said Mr Homan-Russell is an experienced professional investor in the maritime sector who currently serves as chief investment officer of British-based WMC Capital Ltd, where he cofounded Albemarle Shipping Fund.

From 2003 until 2018 he worked for Tufton Oceanic Limited, a fund management company specialising in investments in the maritime and energy sectors.

Mr Homan-Russell has served as a board member of SFL Corporation Ltd since July 2022. He holds a MA in mathematics from Oxford.

The board of directors of Borr Drilling Ltd, the Bermudian-based oilfield services company, has approved a share repurchase programme for the company's shares, to be purchased in the open market and limited to a total amount of $100 million.

The company said the timing and amount of any shares repurchased will be determined by the company based on its evaluation of market conditions and other factors and as permitted by securities laws and other legal requirements.

It added that the authorisation does not have a fixed expiration and the repurchase programme may be suspended or discontinued at any time.

Seven directors of Cool Company Ltd, the Bermudian-based liquefied natural gas shipping company, have been re-elected at the annual general meeting of the organisation.

Returning to the board are Cyril Ducau, Peter Anker, Antoine Bonnier, Neil Glass, Sami Iskander, Joanna Zhou and Richard Tyrrell.
