Delray Rawlins competes for Florida Scorpions at US Open Cricket
Delray Rawlins’s Florida Scorpions have endured mixed fortunes at the US Open Cricket 2023 tournament in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Rawlins’s team have recorded one win and two losses in the T20 tournament, with their campaign getting off to a poor start when they lost to Kingsmen X by five wickets in their tournament opener at Central Broward Regional Park last Saturday.
The Bermuda captain scored 12 after coming at at No 4 and failed to take a wicket after being brought into the attack as fourth change.
Better fortunes awaited Rawlins’s team in their second match, in which they thrashed Masters World XI by nine wickets. Second-change bowler Rawlins claimed two for 12 with his slow left arm and did not get a chance to bat as his team reached their target of 89 in 8.1 overs with plenty of wickets in hand.
Hoping to to build upon their momentum, Scorpions took on UMMC Knight Riders on Monday, but they lost by six wickets despite Rawlins stroking an unbeaten 23 from 20 balls at No 6. He conceded 44 runs without taking a wicket in the Knight Riders’ successful run chase.
