Man fined for threatening former manager by WhatsApp
A man threatened to injure his former manager days after losing his job, Magistrates’ Court heard.
Morris Botelho, 57, admitted threatening Carlos Delgardo through a WhatsApp message when he appeared in court.
The court heard that Botelho, from Smith’s, who was terminated from St George’s Club in April, sent the message to Mr Delgardo, the general manager of the establishment, on May 3.
In the message, Botelho threatened to “beat” Mr Delgardo in front of his wife and called him explicit names.
Botelho apologised for the message in court and told magistrate Tyrone Chin that he wanted to “put this incident behind” him.
Mr Chin fined Botelho $1,250 for the offence and gave him until February 7 to pay.
