Man steals food and bag from restaurant
A man who stole food and a backpack from a Southampton business has been ordered to take part in a drug treatment court programme.
Dimetri Robinson, 45, admitted trespassing and stealing the items from Gulfstream restaurant when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that Robinson, from Warwick, stole the backpack and $250 of frozen chicken and steak from the restaurant’s storeroom on September 16.
The bag, which belonged to a staff member, had $800 in Bermuda cash, 5,000 rupees and several other items.
Robinson could be seen on the restaurant’s security camera, which he moved so it was pointed at the floor.
Interviewed by police, Robinson admitted stealing the frozen meat because he “was hungry”, but denied taking the backpack.
Magistrate Craig Attridge ordered that a drug-use assessment be written for Robinson and that he observe Drug Treatment Court beginning on January 16. Robinson was released on $5,000 bail until that time.
