A campaign was launched by Belco today in an effort to encourage more customers to opt for paperless bills.

The drive runs until Earth Day on April 22, when a $500 gift voucher for the power company will be drawn for customers signed-up to e-billing.

Belco said: “All paperless billing customers at the time of the draw will be entered and eligible to win.”

It added: “Belco is launching the campaign as part of the company’s longstanding commitment to sustainability with the campaign aimed at reducing paper use.

“Every month approximately 10,600 bills are printed and mailed, and customers can help reduce this paper use by switching to e-billing.

Wayne Caines, the company’s president, said: “As we begin a new year, we are renewing our commitment to sustainability and a simple way we can further our goal is to reduce the amount of paper we use.

“I encourage customers who haven’t signed up for e-bills yet to do so, by working together, we can reduce our environmental impact and progress our goal of ensuring Belco becomes a more sustainable company.”

Customers can switch to paperless bills at belco.bm/belco-paperless-billing or e-mail info@belco.bm to sign up.

The company said: “Paper production uses a large amount of energy and water and contributes to climate change.

“By opting to receive e-bills, customers can help save trees, energy and water and reduce carbon emissions for a more sustainable planet.”
