Domico Coddington scored a brace to guide Devonshire Cougars to an emphatic victory over Paget in the Premier Division at Devonshire Recreation Club last night.

The win saw Kwame Steede’s side, who are third in the standings, move on to 27 points, two adrift of second-placed North Village and a further point behind leaders PHC.

Coddington scored a first-half penalty before taking his league goal tally to 11 with a second late in the second half.

Lejaun Simmons and substitute Elisha Darrell were the other scorers for Cougars, while Rakeem DeShields scored the consolation for Paget.

Cougars dominated the first half and were awarded a penalty in the ninth minute, when Paget defender Marcus Wade handled inside the area.

While Omari DeShields went the right way, Coddington’s effort proved too powerful for the goalkeeper to keep out.

In the seventeenth minute, Demetre Daniels saw his effort tipped over for a corner by DeShields.

Cougars doubled their lead in the 31st minute with what was a gift from the Paget defence.

Simmons capitalised on the defensive blunder, seizing on a wayward pass beyond the goalkeeper to slot home into an empty net.

Paget reduced the deficit three minutes before the break as Rakeem DeShields rose highest to head home captain Diaje Hart’s free kick.

Three minutes into the second half saw the Paget goalkeeper produce a brilliant save to deny Simmons.

The forward was thwarted again by DeShields just a minute later, as the goalkeeper used his feet to block the effort.

Darrell, a 65th-minute replacement for Quadir Maynard, scored ten minutes after his introduction.

A fine exchange of passes in the box between Darrell and Coddington ended with the former tucking the ball in from close range.

Coddington finished things off in the 82nd minute receiving a long pass from Jecoa Thomas, he kept his focus to fire past DeShields.

Cougars were awarded a second penalty for a foul on Darrell, but Mikel Thomas saw his effort saved by DeShields.
