A government youth programme will host a webinar series to show guardians of children preparing for college how they can secure funding for higher education.

Finding Funds for College, hosted by the Mirrors Programme, will run every Tuesday this month, with each session focused on a specific aspect of funding options.

Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport, said: "Investing in education is crucial for the future of our youth.

“The Finding Funds for College webinar series is a valuable resource for parents and guardians seeking financial support for their children's college journey.

“We believe that informed parents contribute significantly to the success of students, and this initiative aligns with our commitment to fostering educational opportunities."

This Tuesday’s session will focus on the Centennial Bermuda Foundation, while the following week will look at broader lending institutions.

On February 20, the talks will cover college, vocational and technical scholarships, and government scholarships will be featured in the final webinar on February 27.

Key topics will include how to find different options for funding college, understanding the criteria that scholarship committees look for, spotting available funds for trades and vocational education, and how parents can be supportive during the application process.

Participants will also have the opportunity to win a gift at the end of each session.

The webinars will take place over Zoom between 6pm and 7.15pm.

Attendees can sign up for the series here.
