The Government hopes to take steps to repair an eroded section of coastline near Westgate, according to a recent request for proposals.

The RFP, published last week on the Government procurement website, invites parties to submit proposals for remediation of the foreshore area at the correctional facility.

“The Government of Bermuda is seeking to engage a suitably experienced and qualified contractor to remediate the foreshore at the Westgate Correctional Facility in Sandys,” the RFP states.

“A portion of the rock revetment has been damaged, and the contractor is to reconstruct to existing lines and levels on a like-for-like basis. Works must be completed before March 31, 2024.”

Documents included with the RFP state that the applicant would be expected to supply and install fill material to create a “sufficiently smooth surface” and cover it with weather-resistant geotextile fabric.

The documents add that it is expected that the contractor would be able to use boulders already at the site, but additional boulders could be sourced from the government stockpile at the airport waste facility at no cost to the contractor.

The deadline for submission of proposals was listed as 3pm on February 15.
