Two motorists drove while impaired by alcohol during public holidays, Magistrates’ Court heard.

Stephen Hunter, 47, and Kent Lowe, 56, admitted the offences when they appeared in court.

Hunter, from Warwick, crashed his bike in Southampton after leaving Port Royal Golf Course on November 11, Remembrance Day, the court was told.

He suffered facial injuries in the incident, but declined medical attention at the scene.

Questioned by officers, Hunter admitted having “three Dark ’n Stormys” before getting on his bike.

The court heard that Lowe made a U-turn after seeing police on South Road, Warwick, on Boxing Day.

Officers followed and stopped Lowe, from Devonshire, at Rubis Warwick petrol station.

They noticed that his eyes were red and he was unsteady on his feet and took him to Hamilton Police Station.

Hunter was fined $1,500 and disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months during yesterday’s appearance.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered Lowe, who admitted having a problem with alcohol, to attend DUI Court, beginning on February 27, and released him on $1,500 bail until that time.

He was disqualified from driving all vehicles until further notice.
