Investigation into airport dump fire almost finished
An investigation into a fire that broke out at the airport dump in December is nearing completion.
The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service said information would be released on completion if it is deemed appropriate to do so.
The BFRS did not respond to questions regarding the status of the investigation into the fire at the Boatport Boat Storage facility in St George’s, which also occurred in December.
A number of other unexplained fires were reported at about the same time.
The BFRS said that the investigation into the airport dump fire is almost finished and that the file will be sent soon to the Chief Fire Officer for further consideration.
It added that the findings may be released at some point if disclosure is considered appropriate.
The airport fire was reported shortly after 6pm on December 19 at the dump outside LF Wade International Airport.
The BFRS reported several hours later that the fire had been contained.
Fire trucks from the Clearwater station found an area roughly 100ft by 100ft engulfed in flames. Nine vehicles tackled the blaze.
The boatyard fire took place in the early hours of December 14 and resulted in about 50 boats and a storage rack being destroyed.
The fire service also started an investigation into this incident.
