Brighton Morrison has a burning desire to become a professional footballer and is determined to do whatever it takes to fulfil his ambition.

Despite having an unsuccessful trial with Sky Bet Championship side Ipswich Town, the defender continues an unrelenting pursuit of his dream honing his skills in England as a second-year scholar at the FAB Professional Football Academy in Bisham Abbey and also playing for Isthmian Football League side Marlow Football Club’s under-23 squad.

“I just want to make it as a professional footballer,” Morrison said. “I just want to make it and don’t care where I play in the world. I just want to play at the highest level possible.

“I have such drive and passion because I just want it so bad, and I’d do anything to achieve it and play for anyone.

“It’s been a good journey so far, and I just feel I can only get better.”

The 18-year-old comes well equipped with valuable versatility having played across all three thirds of the pitch.

“I’ve played left back, right back, centre half, striker, centre midfield and I was put at right wing at one point this season, which was a surprise,” Morrison added.

“I’ve played everywhere but nowadays I play anywhere in the back four.”

Morrison is fresh off earning his first international cap for Bermuda at the Concacaf Under-20 Championship Qualifier in St Kitts & Nevis.

He featured in matches against Grenada and Martinique and was absolutely thrilled to have been granted the wonderful opportunity to showcase his talents on the football pitch at this level.

“This is my first experience with the national team which was a great experience,” Morrison said.

“Not many people get a chance to play international football.

“It was a great experience that I think will really help me. It’s a lot of pressure stepping out for your country and I think now that I have played under that pressure it will help me be more relaxed and stuff on the pitch.”

Morrison and his team-mates ultimately came up short in their bid to qualify for the Championship, to be held in Guanajuato, Mexico, in July, after finishing third in group F.

Bermuda beat Grenada 2-1 in their tournament opener and lost against Martinique by the same scoreline in their second match before going down 3-2 against group winners Jamaica in their final outing.

“I think each game we played better and better as a team and it’s difficult playing with players you haven’t played with,” he added. “So it was good to gain trust and experience playing with this group of players, who improved a lot as well with our performances each game.”
