A justice campaigner who was arrested by police at the airport as he returned to Bermuda after Thanksgiving has been told that he will face criminal charges.

Eron Hill, a 28-year-old paralegal, answered bail at Hamilton Police Station last Wednesday, when he was informed that he would need to appear at Magistrates’ Court on March 26.

Mr Hill runs the Bermuda Equal Justice Initiative, which aims to “free the innocent, prevent wrongful convictions and assist in reforming the justice system so it’s fair, compassionate and equitable for all”.

He was told that the charges against him concerned an Instagram post made under the initiative’s handle at the end of October last year and related events.

Mr Hill, who was arrested on November 27 after he returned from New Jersey and was held for 72 hours, was bailed until the hearing.
