Two new appointments have been made to lead the Bermuda Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The charity recently named lawyer Kim White as the its new president and LaKeitha Cunningham as vice-president.

A statement from the organisation said Mr White, who has a background in animal advocacy, “is poised to lead the Bermuda SPCA to new heights, continuing its vital mission of compassionate care for animals in need”.

Mr White succeeds April Augustus, who will now serve as the charity’s executive director.

The statement added that Ms Cunningham’s appointment “marks a significant step in expanding the SPCA's impact in Bermuda”, and Ms Augustus’s new role “leverages her expertise in operational management and strategic planning, gained from years of running charities locally and abroad”.

The charity’s board said the three appointments will “undoubtedly strengthen our ability to serve the community and champion the welfare of animals in Bermuda”.
