A local flooring company is making waves in the Cayman Islands.

Stafford Surfaces, founded by Bermudian Randy Stafford, has won a Best in the Cayman Islands award from communications firm Compass Media Limited.

The prize was for the company’s outstanding range of surface materials.

Stafford Surfaces began in Bermuda almost 30 years ago, and opened a second outlet in the Cayman Islands in 2010.

Mr Stafford learnt flooring from his grandfather William Joell, for whom the W E R Joell Tennis Stadium in Pembroke is named. He now lives in the Cayman Islands and runs the office there.

“Our expansion was not just about reaching new markets; it was about challenging ourselves to meet and exceed the evolving needs of our clients,” Mr Stafford said. “Being recognised as the best in the Cayman Islands is a testament to our team’s dedication and hard work.”

However, he said the company’s commitment to Bermuda remains “unwavering”.

“This prestigious accolade underscores the company’s commitment to excellence and innovation, from its roots in Bermuda to its strategic expansion to the Cayman Islands,” said Gordon Benson, director of the Bermuda office.

Looking ahead, Stafford Surfaces is poised for further innovation and expansion.

“We are excited about the future,” Mr Stafford said. “The world of surface solutions is constantly evolving, and we are here to lead the way, driven by our passion for quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction.”
