Roxanne Christopher has been appointed president of the Caribbean Family Planning Affiliation.

The chairman of Teen Services and Teen Haven has “extensive experience and a visionary approach”, and in her new role is charged with helping to reshape care and support for vulnerable populations in the Caribbean.

Teen Services collaborated for more than two decades with the CFPA and Ms Christopher has been a champion of sexual and reproductive rights.

She aims to ensure comprehensive healthcare access.

Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, congratulated Ms Christopher.

Ms Furbert said: “For years, the focus of Teen Services and Teen Haven has been supporting adolescent pregnancy and sexual and reproductive health.

“This opportunity of leadership will strengthen capacity building among Caribbean's countries, which will assist with access to information and services for Bermuda's young people.”

Wendy Augustus, Teen Services' executive director, emphasised Ms Christopher's dedication to youth empowerment. She said that under her leadership, Teen Services would leverage residential care models to impact CFPA's regions.

Patricia Sheerattan-Bisnauth, the CFPA chief executive, highlighted a shared commitment to community empowerment saying that together, they pledge to “innovate and create a brighter future”.

She added: “Ms Christopher's presidency heralds a new era of collaboration, innovation and impact, reaffirming dedication to transformational care.”
