Roadworks will take place throughout May, the Ministry of Public Works announced today.

The closure of St John’s Road between the Cedar Avenue traffic lights and the Saltus Grammar School entrance has been extended to May 11.

The Pembroke road’s sidewalk and a portion of St John’s Road collapsed last August after an Island Construction crane tumbled down the embankment.

Motorists were advised to use alternative routes through Woodlands Road, Canal Road, Dutton Avenue, Blackwatch Pass, Langton Hill and North Shore Road.

A portion of Harrington Sound Road near White Crest Hill in Hamilton Parish had the eastbound lane closed on Friday, the ministry added.

The closure was made to accommodate the construction of a private wall and will continue until Friday.

Construction will take place between 9am and 4pm and traffic will be managed by traffic lights, cones and signage.

Motorists were advised to use caution while travelling along Harrington Sound Road between Devil’s Hole and Paynter’s Road.

A section of South Road will also be reduced to a single-lane closure near the Henry VIII restaurant in Southampton.

The closure will allow for paving to start between the restaurant and the Fairmont Southampton Hotel.

Work will start this Wednesday and continue until May 17. Construction work will be held between 8am and 3pm.

The single-lane will be managed by traffic lights and signs, and no traffic will be allowed to go through the closed lane for safety purposes.

Motorists have been advised to expect delays on South Road and Middle Road near Jews Bay and to use alternative routes along Lighthouse Road and Middle Road.
