Child neglect and assault charges denied in court
Two people appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday, when charges against them included the neglect and assault of children.
A Southampton woman, 35, denied neglecting two children, as well as assaulting and chasing one with a knife, when she appeared in court yesterday.
A man, 34, from Pembroke, pleaded not guilty to assaulting the two children and threatening to injure one.
It was alleged that the offences happened between 2016 and January 2024.
Neither the adults nor the children can be identified for legal reasons.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case to May 13 and released the two accused on $10,000 bail with a surety until then.
Ms Anderson also ordered that they have no unsupervised visits with the children, not be within 300 metres of where they go to school and not contact any prosecution witnesses.
