Probation for bag thief
A man who broke into a corrections officer’s car has been sentenced to two years’ probation.
Terry Robinson, 66, admitted stealing a backpack from Shannon DeRoza’s car when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court in March.
Robinson, from Sandys, stole the bag, which was filled with electronics valued at $240, on September 23, and admitted the crime to police two days later.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered Robinson, who has a history of theft, to refrain from alcohol and drugs, participate in a substance use assessment and follow recommendations from court staff throughout his probation.
Ms Anderson adjourned the case to May 22 for review.
